Following the resounding success of PARADOX – The Gospel of Shadows, Olivier Salvas Artiste returns with PARADOX – Part II, a new chapter in his acclaimed series now on view at Art Salon 2025, Federation Studios (1243 Cartwright Street, Granville Island)in November 2025.
While Part I confronted the contradictions of modern life through symbolic characters and societal commentary, Part II turns the gaze inward. This continuation marks a shift from outward observation to personal revelation, a dialogue between the artist and his own paradox. Where the first collection invited viewers to reflect on their place in the shadows of society, Part II explores the artist’s own entanglement within them.
Olivier Salvas blends acrylic, aerosol, and pastel once again, but this time his palette and imagery are steeped in self-reflection. Though photographed in the now, his recurring character appears styled as if from the past , an echo of what once was, juxtaposed against the present self. The result is a hauntingly intimate study of identity and time, where nostalgia collides with self-awareness.
“Part II is about standing in the very paradox I once painted from afar,” says Salvas in an interview on Radio-Canada’s Culture & Confiture. “It’s about allowing ourself to be vulnerable.”
The PARADOX series remains Olivier Salvas’s most successful body of work in years, praised for its conceptual depth and emotional resonance. PARADOX – Part II extends this dialogue through new visual and psychological dimensions, inviting viewers to reconsider the boundaries between the artist, the art, and the audience.
Through this evolving collection, Olivier Salvas continues to challenge perceptions of beauty, duality, and the human condition — reminding us that the truth often lives not in light, but in the paradoxical space between.
